Vacancies
The Embassy of Denmark in Cairo has a vacancy for a new Senior Commercial Officer.
The Embassy of Denmark in Cairo is seeking a new Senior Commercial Adviser for its ambitious and growing economic and commercial team. The team is led by the Economic Counsellor, and it will include a Junior Commercial Adviser, an Economic Officer, and an intern. The team focuses on promoting trade, providing advice to Danish companies on the Egyptian market, analyzing and reporting on the economic and broader geopolitical situation in Egypt and North Africa in accord-ance with the Danish government’s Action Plan for Economic Diplomacy. As the most senior col-league focusing exclusively on commercial affairs, the Senior Commercial Adviser will spearhead our commercial efforts and provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues.
The team cooperates with other Danish embassies in the MENA region in cross-regional sector teams that share knowledge and work together to better support Danish companies. The Senior Commercial Advisor will be expected to focus on one of the following sectors and participate in regional work and meetings within that sector: energy, defense, food & agriculture, maritime, health & life sciences, tech & digitalization, water & environment or sustainable value chains.
We are looking for candidates who are proactive team players, can develop and manage customer relationships, work independently with external stakeholders, and understand and tailor their output to the wide range of audiences that we serve. Concrete experience from working with Egyptian decision makers in ministries and public authorities and insights into decision making processes and good personal connection is a big advantage. In addition to traditional trade promotion, the Senior Commercial Advisor will also help deliver on the team’s broader mandate covering geopolitical analysis, reporting, and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.
We value team work, proactivity, service mindedness, trust and honesty, a flat hierarchy, and open lines of communication. Close cooperation across the fields of politics, geopolitics, migration, and trade is crucial to deliver whole-of-MFA solutions to Danish companies and internal stakeholders. The successful candidates must therefore be able to nurture good relations both within the team and with others in and outside the Embassy. In return, there will be ample opportunity to shape own tasks, explore all aspects of modern diplomacy, and engage in personal development.
