Full-time Senior Accounts Officer

About the role
You will have the possibility to work with experienced colleagues in a multicultural environment. The administrative team consists of eight colleagues and your primary tasks will be accounting and budgeting. You are expected to show the flexibility required for an optimal handling of the entire portfolio of the Embassy and be ready to contribute to handling tasks outside your own portfolio.

Main duties and responsibilities
Accounting and budget monitoring, incl. quarterly reporting to management 
Liquidity management
Monthly bank reconciliation
Monthly balance accounts reconciliation
Administration of local staff salaries, salary taxes, social insurance and end of service contributions
Responsible for drafting and renewal of contracts and prepare payments
Assist program officers with Embassy mini grants as well as cultural projects

Required qualifications

University degree in accounting, finance or similar

Minimum 5 years of administration and financial management

Excellent command of Arabic and English, both oral and written

Strong sense of accuracy and attention to detail


A structured mind-set and good planning and coordination skills

Professionalism and a high degree of integrity

Cultural understanding

Good interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues

Flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy

Advanced computer skills, including MS Office

Desired qualifications

Experience with Navision or other computerised accounting systems

Experience from other diplomatic mission or international organisation

Standard working hours of 37 hours per week. Salary in accordance with Embassy’s salary policy that reflect qualifications and relevant experience. Annual paid holiday as per legally binding labour market rules of Egypt and the Embassy’s staff rules. Reasonable coverage of sickness expenses and a workplace pension scheme. This is a local fixed-term contract for a period of two years with the possibility of extension
