Danish passports

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Denmark has from 1st of January 2012 introduced biometric passports with digital photo, fingerprints and digital signature.

All applications for Danish passports must be submitted in person at the Embassy in Cairo.

Since all passports for Danes living abroad are now manufactured in Denmark by the Police Commissioner please allow 5-6 weeks for processing. Applications for Danish passports should therefore be submitted well in advance of your planned travel. In cases of unexpected urgency the processing time can be reduced to 3 weeks.

Your old passport must be annulled before we can give you your new passport. You can either hand in your old passport along with your application for the embassy to keep while your new passport is being processed OR we can contact you once the new passport has arrived and you can send the old passport to us. We will annul the old passport and return it to you along with the new passport.

When we annul old passports we do not annul the pages with valid visa stickers. This means that if your current visa is in your old passport you can choose to either travel with both passports until the visa expires OR you can go to the Department of Immigration to have a new visa sticker issued in your new passport.
