The Danish Trade Council in Egypt (TC Egypt) and The Embassy of Denmark in Cairo is looking for a dedicated Trade Advisor to be part of a vibrant workplace.

The Danish Trade Council is the governmental export and investment organisation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. TC Egypt has a mandate to assist Danish companies in expanding or initiating business activities within the Egyptian market. TC Egypt acts as consultants for Danish companies and offers a wide range of services throughout the companies export life cycle. TC Egypt benefits from its unique combination of business know how and in depth knowledge of local conditions in order to reach its overall goal; creating value for Danish businesses and helping them succeeding at the Egyptian market.

The Trade Council
The Danish Trade Council has more than 250 trade advisors working in more than 60 countries around the world. The Trade Council focuses on offering Danish companies individual advice on all issues important for their international activities and strives to be a highly professional and innovative organisation, which aims to secure the best possible conditions for the Danish industry in an increasingly globalised world.

The Trade Council is in a position to offer substantial and discernible benefits to both new and experienced export firms. The goal is to offer the Danish business community the opportunity to enter a close partnership with TC Egypt which will enhance the professional analysis of foreign markets and thereby increase the competitiveness of the companies.

Trade Advisor Tasks Description

The Embassy of Denmark in Egypt seeks a dynamic full-time Trade Advisor to join our existing trade council team.  The Trade Advisor would join a well-functioning commercial team. The role under the supervision of the Head of Trade Council is to resolve, promote and develop business opportunities in Egypt for Danish enterprises through commercial activities. The position will give you a great opportunity to work within a range of different industries and build a strong base for you to specialize in certain industries or function as time progresses.

 

As a Trade Advisor, you will be assisting in day-to-day work, promoting the commercial interests of Danish companies, supporting these to access and develop business opportunities in the Egyptian market, updating database for TC contacts and coordinating with other embassy sections in terms of trade related projects.

 

Under the supervision of Head of Trade Council your tasks will include:

 

  • Contribute to the TC team’s promotional activities, market surveys, partner searches, market analysis, arranging and participating in meetings.
  • Communication with public and private sector fostering a close cooperation with Egyptian ministries and authorities relevant for Danish business interests.
  • Be part of commercial projects and gradually develop own clients.
  • Part of the team working on logistics related to Danish business club.
  • Participating with the Communication Group in setting and following the Embassy’s media strategy, and creating and publishing content on the Embassy’s social media platforms.
  • Preparing export promotion events in relation to trade exhibitions, seminars, conferences and VIP visits as well as any other assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You will be offered responsibility and flexibility. The flexibility gives you the opportunity to test and develop yourself, professionally and personally, by e.g. working in a variety of sectors and in a variety of business aspects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A strong interest in developing business opportunities on the Egyptian market for Danish companies.
  • 5-6 years of business experience and commercial knowledge.
  • Be dynamic, solution- and quality oriented, as well as a good team player.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • A relevant university degree – preferably business related.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
  • Outgoing, strong networking skills and able to make new contacts to external partners.
  • Flexibility and ability to contribute on a broad range of the Embassy’s tasks.
  • Knowledge of the Danish business will be considered an asset, but not a precondition.

Employment Conditions, salary, and compensation

The Embassy offers attractive and flexible working conditions and a competitive salary package.

 

  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week with a large degree of flexibility in organizing your daily working hours.
  • You will be entitled to annual paid holiday as per legally binding labor market rules of Egypt and the Embassy’s staff rules.
  • You will be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses.
  • Your salary will be within the Embassy’s salary policy, and will reflect your qualifications and relevant experience. As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
  • This is a fixed-term contract for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension.
